Athena Group developed a database application for Amgen, the world's largest independent biotechnology company, that effectively tracks all components, contracts, vendors, and services associated with several hundred servers spread across the globe. At Amgen, data and services related to the manufacture of pharmaceuticals is mission critical and many aspects of the business are audited by the FDA (Federal Food and Drug Administration). The database, an Oracle 8i installation, provides a robust environment for storing, auditing, and validating data in the application.
Today, IT departments everywhere are recognizing the importance of low maintenance, web deployed applications. SSDB is a server-side application accessible from anywhere in the world by any of the popular web browsers. Application deployment is a cinch, with no installation required on the client side. Because SSDB is a web application, the interface provides a look-and-feel that users are accustomed to in their favorite web browser. Pure HTML provides cross-browser compatibility in the event of a corporate browser migration.
